BIG PROMOTION

If you're hoping for a big promotion at work, you might want to be careful what you wish for. British researchers have found that when people get promoted, they suffer on average about 10 percent more mental strain and are less likely to find the time to go to the doctor.

They say that the mental health of managers typically deteriorates after a job promotion. Not only that, they say there are no indications of any health improvements for promoted people. Other studies have found that stress can be deadly, raising the risk of everything from the common cold to cancer.

And I thought promotions were supposed to help people.
